Administrative efficiency in healthcare is a crucial factor in improving the quality of hospital services. The utilization of information technology through the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) is expected to support data management, accelerate administrative processes, and enhance information accuracy. However, in practice, there remains a gap between the available features of health information systems and the operational needs of hospitals. This study aims to describe the health information system features available at Benyamin Guluh Hospital, Kolaka; to analyze the impact of limitations in health information system features on administrative efficiency compared to hospitals with more comprehensive systems; and to examine the role of HMIS implementation in improving healthcare administrative efficiency. The findings indicate that the HMIS at Benyamin Guluh Hospital has contributed to improved administrative efficiency through faster service documentation, easier verification of financial transactions, reduced manual recording errors, and enhanced coordination among service units. Nevertheless, limitations such as the absence of automated daily and monthly financial reporting features and the continued use of manual recording in several units have resulted in administrative efficiency not yet being fully optimal. Therefore, further development and enhancement of HMIS features are necessary to better align with hospital operational needs and to sustainably improve administrative efficiency and the quality of healthcare services.
